Measuring 91 x 48 x 23
mm and slightly larger than today’s flip phone,
the LG 5550 is a flip phone that features advanced
voice recognition technology. Voice recognition is
not new to mobile phones. The LG 5550 adds a speakerphone
that allows a two way conversation for anyone who
is too busy to talk in the standard way. ‘Please
say a command’ is the prompt that can be invoked
by press the enter key or activated when the flip
is opened. You have the chose of uttering contacts,
digit dial, redial, and a few others that are simple
to say yet it does what you want.
Voice recognition can be used
without training your voice but you’ll get more
accuracy by going through the training process. Unlike
other phones, you don’t need to record a voice
to associate to a particular contact.
The Screen
Featuring full 65,000 colours,
this is one of the best screens we have ever seen.
It is so bright and the text was so sharp that we
wondered why the voice recognition is so poor but
the screen is better.
On the outside, there’s
a circular protrusion that features one of the most
advanced LED technologies called OEL. OEL is thinner
than the internal LCD screen. It is sharp and clear.
It allows smooth scrolling when the flip is closed.
It displays phone status icons along with time and
the callerID.
